Self-employed and sole traders

Cash-flow forecast

For sole traders who want to see the next 12 months coming

See the next twelve months before they happen. Type the money you expect in and out each month and the forecast works out your bank balance at every month end, warns you when it would dip below zero, and drops your Self Assessment payments into January and July so the tax bill isn't a surprise. As each month ends, type what really happened beside the forecast to see the difference.

Where the figures come from

A spreadsheet for organising your own figures. It isn't tax advice, isn't HMRC software and can't send anything to HMRC. Check every figure. Rates and thresholds are for the 2026–27 tax year and link to GOV.UK, checked on 18 Oct 2026. If you're not sure what applies to you, ask HMRC or an accountant. Sources and dates are on the Sources tab. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Not affiliated with or endorsed by HMRC.
